ICYMI: AFP-Montana Activists Visit Washington, D.C., Urging Lawmakers to Pass Trump Tax Cuts
HELENA, MT— Americans for Prosperity grassroots activists from across the country traveled to Capitol Hill this week as part of the organization’s ongoing Protect Prosperity campaign to advocate for President Trump’s tax cuts.
State Director Jesse Ramos traveled to Washington and conducted meetings to urge Montana lawmakers to extend provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which saves the average Montana family $2,569 in federal taxes per year and preserves 2,628 jobs throughout the state. Jesse Ramos also discussed passing the rescissions package from the White House to eliminate billions in wasteful spending.
While on Capitol Hill, AFP-Montana delivered more than 500 postcards written by constituents to lawmakers showcasing Montanans’ support of renewing TCJA.
AFP-MT State Director Jesse Ramos released the following statement:
“Each year, activists from AFP-MT travel to Washington, D.C., to discuss the most pressing issues facing our communities. This week, I met with lawmakers and urged them to pass President Trump’s reconciliation package and renew the TCJA tax cuts that will save Montanans more of their hard-earned money on their Federal taxes.
“We must ensure Americans aren’t hit with the largest tax increase in history – we look forward to working alongside policymakers to see TCJA renewed.”
Senator Steve Daines said:
“I’m thankful for what Americans for Prosperity is doing in Montana to help Montana businesses by making Trump’s tax cuts permanent. This will stop the largest tax increase in American history.”
Senator Tim Sheehy said:
“[AFP] is here advocating for making the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent so we can avoid the largest tax increase in the history of mankind.”
